March 28, 2020

As you may be aware, the CRA has recently extended the personal tax filing deadline to June 1, 2020.  While this allows everyone more time to prepare and file their tax returns, we are urging everyone to send us their tax filing information as soon as possible, preferably in digital format.

Here’s how to deliver your tax information to us digitally in a three-step process:

1.Assembling your tax information

First, assemble all of the relevant information you need to send into separate folders for your Medical, Donation, Small Business receipts in 3 separate PDF files.

2. Scanning your information

Many of the documents required may already be in digital format, but for those that are not, you will need to scan them. Don’t have a scanner? No problem, use your mobile phone or tablet camera, along with one of these 3 apps to get the job done. They’re also free!

You can use other mobile apps like Google Drive & Dropbox but the draw back is that the picture quality isn’t always as good and you’ll end up having to submit multiple individual images versus 1 or 2 tidy PDF files. This will make it far quicker and easier for your accountant. Tax season is busy so we appreciate it!
